Visiting Disneyland Paris: 20 pro tips to make every minute count
A day at Disneyland Paris needs planning. Between two parks, shows, character meetings and queues, it pays to have a plan. We welcome hundreds of families to Marne-la-Vallée every year, and it is always the same mistakes that cost hours. Here are our 20 practical tips, from preparation to the journey home, to make every minute count.
Before you go
1. Choose your dates carefully
The quietest days are generally Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays outside school holidays. The busiest are Saturdays, French, Belgian and British school holidays and the May bank-holiday weekends. January, March and mid-November often offer the best balance of crowds and prices.
2. Buy tickets online, in advance
Tickets are often cheaper on the official website than at the gate, and some dates sell out. Booking ahead guarantees entry. Compare dated tickets, cheaper on quiet days, with flexible tickets, dearer but usable any day.
3. Allow at least two days
Since Disney Adventure World opened in 2026, each park deserves a full day. With three days you can repeat your favourite rides, enjoy both evening shows and keep half a day for Val d’Europe or an outing nearby.
4. Download the official app
The Disneyland Paris app is essential: live waiting times, show and meeting times, park maps, virtual queues and queue-skip purchases. Link your tickets before arriving and bring a power bank, as it drains the battery.
5. Check the closure calendar
Some rides close for refurbishment. Check the official website before choosing your dates so you do not miss your children’s favourite. For example, Hyperspace Mountain will close at the end of 2027 for a long transformation (read what is coming next).
6. Make a must-do list
Before you go, ask each family member for their top three rides or meetings. On site you will know exactly what to do first, without debating in the middle of the crowd.
On site: the strategy
7. Arrive before opening
This is the most important tip. The first hours are the quietest: you can do three or four big rides before the queues build. Be at the entrance 30 minutes before opening, including the security check.
8. Start with the most popular rides
In Disneyland Park, head for Peter Pan’s Flight, Big Thunder Mountain or Hyperspace Mountain. At Disney Adventure World, start with Frozen Ever After or Crush’s Coaster, whose queue often tops two hours in the middle of the day.
9. Use the single rider lines
Several rides have a single rider line used to fill empty seats. It is free and often much faster. The only drawback: you will not sit with your party, which suits teenagers and adults perfectly well.
10. Paid queue-skipping: useful, but wisely
Disney Premier Access is a paid queue-skip. There are two options: per ride (about €5 to €19 depending on the ride and the day), or a bundle covering a dozen major rides in both parks, around €90 to €180 per person depending on the date. Our advice: check waiting times in the app in the morning and buy only per ride, for the one with the longest queue.
11. Make the most of quiet moments
During parades and big shows, ride queues drop noticeably. If you have already seen the parade, it is the perfect time to ride. The same goes for mealtimes.
12. Come back late in the day
The last hour before closing is often the second-best of the day: families with young children have left and queues melt. A queue showing 60 minutes at 22:30 often takes less in reality.
| Time | Ride crowds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Opening – 10:30 | Low | The big rides, in order of priority. |
| 10:30 – 12:00 | Rising | Mid-level rides, scheduled meetings. |
| 12:00 – 14:00 | High | Indoor shows, or rides while others eat. |
| 14:00 – 17:00 | Very high | Break, parade, shops, nap for little ones. |
| 17:00 – closing | Falling | Rides you missed, then the evening show. |
Eat smart
13. Shift your mealtimes
Between 12:00 and 14:00 restaurants are packed. Have lunch at 11:30 or after 14:00, and book table-service restaurants in advance, sometimes weeks ahead in the holidays.
14. Bring snacks and a water bottle
Picnics are allowed in the parks within the rules (no glass, no sharp objects). A water bottle and a few snacks save real money, and drinking fountains let you refill for free.
15. Order through the app
At several counter-service restaurants you can order and pay in advance in the app, then collect your meal at a chosen time. A precious time-saver at peak hours.
Enjoy it to the full
16. Do not miss the evening shows
Disney Tales of Magic at the castle and Disney Cascade of Lights on the lake at Disney Adventure World are unforgettable. Take your place 30 to 45 minutes before for a good view.
17. Take an afternoon break
With young children, a nap or a quiet break in the early afternoon helps them last until the evening show. That is where staying close to the parks makes all the difference: two hours’ rest, then back for the evening.
18. Think comfort
Comfortable shoes (you easily walk 15 kilometres a day), rain gear and sun cream depending on the season, and a small first-aid kit. Pushchairs are allowed and can be hired on site. There is a first-aid centre in each park.
19. Leave shopping until the end
Shops stay open until closing, and those at Disney Village even later. No need to carry bags all day.
20. Look up
The best of Disneyland Paris often hides in the details: façades, stained glass, scenery, little nods. Take time to wander, especially in the castle and on Main Street. To know where to look, read our Disneyland Paris secrets and stories.
Disneyland Paris offers an accessibility card that makes it easier for eligible guests and their companions to access rides. Check the official website and prepare the required documents before your visit.
The families who leave delighted are not the ones who did everything, but the ones who did what mattered without rushing.

Our typical three-day plan
| Day | Morning | Afternoon | Evening |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Disneyland Park: Fantasyland and the great classics | Break, then Adventureland and Frontierland | Castle show |
| Day 2 | Disney Adventure World: Arendelle at opening | Pixar, Marvel, Adventure Way | Disney Cascade of Lights |
| Day 3 | Back to your favourite rides in both parks | Val d’Europe or La Vallée Village | Dinner at Disney Village |
The most common mistakes
- Arriving at 11:00: the best hours of the day are already gone.
- Trying to do everything in one day: with two big parks, it is impossible without rushing.
- Eating at 12:30: that is when restaurant queues are longest.
- Forgetting the app: without live waiting times you lose a lot of time.
- Neglecting footwear: blisters on day one spoil the whole stay.
- Leaving before the evening show: it is often the best memory.
