Lion King, Space Mountain, a new parade: what is coming to Disneyland Paris up to 2030

With Disney Adventure World opening in March 2026, you might think Disneyland Paris had finished its big transformation. Not at all: at the D23 Disney fan convention in 2026, major new projects were announced for both parks in Marne-la-Vallée. A whole kingdom for The Lion King, a reinvented Space Mountain, a new parade… Here is everything on the way, with the dates known so far.

A whole land for The Lion King

This is the most eagerly awaited project. In Disney Adventure World, a new land dedicated to The Lion King has been under construction since autumn 2025. It will continue the park’s expansion around its big lake.

At its heart, a water ride will take guests through the savannah and the film’s great moments, with a 16-metre drop. Along the way you will meet a highly advanced animated Scar, one of the announced highlights of the ride.

Disneyland Paris is announcing an opening before 2030, with no precise date yet. The work is in the park’s expansion area and does not disrupt your visit: you can sometimes glimpse the machinery from certain paths.

Space Mountain returns to its roots

In Disneyland Park, the famous space mountain is changing. Hyperspace Mountain, its current Star Wars-themed version, will close at the end of 2027 for a major transformation.

It will reopen as “Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon”. A return to its roots for long-time fans: when it opened in 1995, the ride was already inspired by Jules Verne’s novel, with its giant cannon launching travellers towards the Moon. The new version will revive that very French spirit of adventure with modern technology.

The space mountain is returning to its original inspiration: Jules Verne’s voyage to the Moon.
Good to know

The ride will be closed for a long period during the work. If Hyperspace Mountain is a must for you, plan your visit before the end of 2027.

A new daytime parade in 2028

Another major announcement: a new daytime parade will arrive in Disneyland Park in 2028. Mickey will of course lead it, with several heroes and heroines who are newer or rarely seen in parades so far: Jasmine (Aladdin), Tiana (The Princess and the Frog), Rapunzel and Miguel, the young musician from Coco.

A daytime parade is a big moment in the life of a park: it sets the rhythm of the afternoon, draws thousands of spectators along Main Street and brings new floats, music and costumes. Details will be revealed over the coming months.

An Up carousel on Adventure Way

Sooner still, an Up-themed carousel, inspired by the Pixar film about the house carried by balloons, is set to complete the family offer at Disney Adventure World. It will join Raiponce Tangled Spin among the gentle rides suitable for the youngest.

Another step for a park that, only a few years ago, was sorely lacking rides for little ones.

Balloons, lanterns and gentle rides: family attractions keep multiplying.

These are the dates announced by Disneyland Paris so far. As with any major project, they may change: we will update this article as news comes in.

What it means for your stay

These projects confirm a long-term trend: Disneyland Paris is becoming a true multi-day destination. With two full-size parks, two night-time spectaculars and more and more rides for all ages, one day is no longer enough. We now recommend at least two to three days to enjoy it without rushing.

Thirty years after it opened, the space mountain is going back to Jules Verne’s Moon. For many regulars, it is the best announcement of the decade.

Thirty-five years of transformation

To appreciate the scale of these announcements, remember how far the resort has come since it opened. Disneyland Paris has never stopped reinventing itself:

YearMilestone
1992The park opens as Euro Disney.
1995Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon opens, inspired by Jules Verne.
2002The second park, Walt Disney Studios, opens.
2014The Ratatouille ride opens.
2019Phantom Manor is completely renovated.
2022Avengers Campus opens.
2024The Disneyland Hotel reopens with a fairy-tale theme.
2025A new entrance for the second park.
2026Disney Adventure World is born, with the lake, Adventure Way and World of Frozen.
2027 – 2030Reinvented Space Mountain, new parade, Lion King land.

Why The Lion King?

Released in 1994, The Lion King is one of the best-loved Disney films of all time, in France as elsewhere. Its stage musical was a hit in Paris at the Théâtre Mogador on two occasions. The 2019 photorealistic film widened its audience even further.

Dedicating a whole land to it, with a big water ride, gives the park a new headliner able to draw every generation, from parents who grew up with Simba to today’s children.

Does the construction affect your visit?

Very little. Disneyland Paris’s big building sites are hidden behind decorated hoardings, mostly in expansion areas away from the main paths. You may glimpse a crane in the distance, but nearby rides stay open. Only the closure of Hyperspace Mountain, from the end of 2027, will deprive guests of a major ride for several months.

How to follow the news

Official dates are published on the Disneyland Paris website and at big events such as the D23 convention. We will update this article with each new announcement.

The must-dos right now

The big projects will take years. Meanwhile, Disneyland Paris is packed with attractions that have built its reputation for over thirty years. Here are the ones we recommend to every family staying with us:

Big Thunder Mountain

The mine train racing around its island in the middle of Frontierland’s lake. Suitable for older children, loved by everyone.

Pirates of the Caribbean

A voyage into the world of pirates, with spectacular scenery and small boat drops. Perfect for the whole family.

Phantom Manor

The haunted manor perched on its hill: more mysterious than scary, with a story unique to Disneyland Paris.

Peter Pan’s Flight

The flight over sleeping London, one of the park’s most poetic attractions. Queues are often long: go early.

Crush’s Coaster

In Disney Adventure World, a spinning ride through the ocean currents of Finding Nemo.

Ratatouille

A rat’s-eye race through Gusteau’s kitchens, with 3D glasses. A very successful tribute to Paris.

When to come to enjoy what’s new?

When something new opens, the first weeks are always very busy. If you are not in a hurry, wait a few months: you will enjoy the same attraction with far less waiting.

And to see the construction progress with your own eyes, nothing beats a stay nearby: the cranes are visible from several spots in the parks and Disney Village.

Thirty-five years of dreams, and this is only the beginning.
Our advice

Don’t postpone your trip waiting for future openings: Disneyland Paris already has enough to fill several days, and another trip in a few years will be a chance to discover what has changed.
