Parrot World: the guide to the wildlife park 20 minutes from Disneyland Paris
Fancy a nature break between two Disney days? In Crécy-la-Chapelle, about twenty minutes’ drive from Disneyland Paris, Parrot World is an immersive wildlife park that children and adults love alike. No rows of cages here: you walk through huge aviaries, along landscaped enclosures and discover the animals of South America in settings reminiscent of their natural habitat. Here is our complete guide to planning your visit.
The kingdom of parrots
As its name suggests, Parrot World is first and foremost a paradise for birds. More than 500 birds live here, including brilliantly coloured macaws, amazons and conures, in one of the largest aviaries in Europe.
You literally walk in: the birds fly freely above visitors, land on branches a few metres away and fill the air with their calls. Children are often spellbound, and so are photographers.
The great animals of South America
Parrot World is not just about birds. The park showcases the wildlife of South America:
Jaguars
The park’s stars. You watch them in a large landscaped enclosure, among lush vegetation.
Humboldt penguins
In a very large enclosure with a pool, you watch them swim and dive. A children’s favourite.
Otters
Playful and curious, they put on a show in their river.
Rheas and capybaras
The great running birds and the world’s largest rodents, perfectly peaceful.
New for 2026: the Pantanal trail
Since May 2026 the area devoted to the Pantanal, the world’s largest wetland in Brazil, has grown with a new trail. Tegus, large South American lizards, have moved in.
A new experience also lets you feed the tortoises with the keepers, and for real enthusiasts the park offers “keeper for a half-day” sessions to go behind the scenes.
For children
- The children’s ranch: pygmy goats and alpacas to approach and stroke.
- A large playground of about 1,000 m² to let off steam between enclosures.
- Feeding times: several moments in the day when keepers present the animals. Times are posted at the entrance.
Sleep facing the animals: the lodges
Parrot World offers 5 lodges, unusual accommodation for spending the night inside the park facing the enclosures. A unique experience to book well in advance, especially in fine weather. For the rest of your stay near Disneyland Paris, our apartments are a practical and affordable base.

Discover Crécy-la-Chapelle while you are there
Nicknamed the “Venice of Brie”, Crécy-la-Chapelle is a pretty little town crossed by canals, with wash-houses, little bridges and waterside houses. Late 19th-century painters came here for the light. An hour’s stroll after the park and the day is perfect. Find more ideas in our article on day trips in Seine-et-Marne.
Our one-day plan
- 9:30: leave your apartment, a 20-minute drive.
- 10:00: park opens, head for the big aviary.
- 11:30: jaguars and penguins, keeper talks.
- 12:30: picnic or lunch on site.
- 14:00: Pantanal trail, children’s ranch and playground.
- 16:30: stroll along the canals of Crécy-la-Chapelle.
- 18:00: head back for an evening at Disney Village or a quiet night at the apartment.
Between two park days, a day in the fresh air does the whole family a world of good.
A park committed to nature
Beyond the visit, modern wildlife parks like Parrot World help preserve endangered species. Several of the animals shown, such as Humboldt penguins and jaguars, are vulnerable in the wild because their habitats are disappearing.
European parks cooperate to maintain healthy populations, raise public awareness and support field projects. Signs along the route and keepers’ talks explain these issues in a way children understand.
What to see by age
| Age | Favourites |
|---|---|
| Under 4 | The children’s ranch, the penguins, the big aviary and the playground. |
| 4 to 8 | The jaguars, otters, tortoise feeding and keeper talks. |
| 9 and over | The Pantanal trail, the conservation explanations, the “keeper for a half-day” sessions. |
Preparing your day at Parrot World
Most of the park is outdoors. Dress for the weather, with good walking shoes, and bring a jacket even in spring: the Brie countryside can be chilly in the morning.
Allow a full day to see everything without rushing, shows included. On arrival, check the times of the free-flight bird shows: they are the highlights of the visit, and the best seats go fast.
The park is about twenty minutes by car from Marne-la-Vallée. Without a car, access is more complicated: check transport options in advance.
Photographing the animals
- Be patient: a sleeping jaguar can wake up suddenly. Waiting five minutes in front of an enclosure often changes everything.
- Press the lens against the glass to avoid reflections, without flash so as not to disturb the animals.
- During the shows, use burst mode: parrots in flight are very fast.
- In the morning and late afternoon, animals are often more active and the light is softer.
No tapping on the glass, no feeding the animals, and speak softly near the enclosures. Explain it to the children before the visit: they will learn a real lesson about nature conservation, at the heart of the park’s mission.
Combining it with Disney in the same stay
Parrot World is the perfect complement to a Disneyland Paris stay: a calm day among the animals between two theme-park days. Put it in the middle of your stay to rest everyone’s legs before heading back to the magic.
